Don’t Stop

Broken.  Bitter. Exhausted.

That is who I was a year and a half ago when I began what would become the wildest and most amazing journey I have ever embarked on.

Life just stunk, and I needed a change.  Continue reading

Unstoppable

“If you could describe yourself using only word, what would it be?”

This was a question I was asked this week on an application for a writing assignment I am pursuing.

I HATE those kind of questions.

REALLY hate them.

I never know what to say.  Should I fluff it up and say things like Motivated. Creative. Smart.  Or should I be brutally honest and say….Lazy. Spastic. Mediocre.

But today I did not struggle.  Today I knew the exact word I wanted to use.

Unstoppable. Continue reading

A New And Different Sun

“Our lives are frittered away by detail…Simplify, simplify, simplify!”

Growing up, I didn’t fully understand what Henry David Thoreau was trying to say when he wrote those words. But over the past year they have become my life’s mantra.

Nothing is simple today.

In order for my face to be glowing as well as acne and wrinkle free, I have to use no less than 4 different products at least twice a day.  Sorry gals, Noxema and Oil of Olay don’t cut it anymore! Continue reading

My Own Book

Albert Einstein once wrote, “There comes a  point in your life when you need to stop reading other people’s books and write your own.”

We love seeking advice from folks. Especially if they have tackled something we haven’t yet.

“How was the new restaurant in town?”
“Is that new Tom Cruise movie worth seeing”
“What are your thoughts on the new Oreo flavor?”

We listen. We read. And we Ruminate over the responses we receive. Then ultimately, we base our own opinions off the opinions of others. We fail to experience for ourselves what is truly out there. Continue reading

Made To Fly

Through the years there are many things I have longed to be.

Skinny
Rich
Beautiful
An Astronaut
A Ballerina
A Famous Broadway Director
A Brunette

I could go on and on with the list. However, I’ll just leave you with the highlights. 🙂 Continue reading

Dancing In The Rain

It happened again this weekend.  While pushing my cart around the grocery store I ran into someone I hadn’t seen in years.   Of course we exchanged pleasantries and then…. it happened…… THE question everyone likes to ask….

“So, are you married?”

When I reply with a simple “No” the look I get is always the same. Continue reading

What Ya See Is What Ya Get

I hate false advertising.

Something is branded as being the best. When you view the advertisement you just can’t believe it looks that good. You simply must have it. Whatever it is. You go to make your big purchase…giddy with excitement….only to have your dreams dashed as you glance at what you just wasted good money on. Continue reading

Exhausting All Possibilities

I am the Queen of Unfinished business.  If you take a look in my guest room you will find half done knitting projects. Three scrapbooks I have attempted to put together, and an array of other “projects and hobbies” I told myself I would finish.

It’s not that I mean to bail…I just get tired, frustrated, bored, and well…..let’s face it…I’m lazy.

My mother has been trying to teach me to knit for 20 something years. It has been the source of some of our greatest fights and shouting matches. She would get me going on a couple of rows and then it happened…..the two year old fit and the same excuse……. Continue reading

Be Willing

It amazes me how I never stop learning. When I was younger I thought by the time I was at least 40 years old, I would have this thing called life figured out. Now at the ripe ole age of 41, I have found, I am still a mere pupil.

I would love to tell you that I am a Generous person, who gives of herself freely….but that would be a falsehood.

I am terribly selfish, greedy, and lazy. All too often I concern myself with foolish things instead of seeking how I can give to others. Now, I am not saying I am not filled with compassion, because I am, but sometimes I am too lazy or self absorbed to act on those feelings of compassion. Continue reading

My Moment

I have heard it said that Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.  Now, I am not going to lie, I always thought my life would END at the end of my comfort zone. I could just picture me taking a leap out of a flying plane, only to hear the pilot say as I made my exit…. “Hey! You forgot the parachute!

I longed for adventure and change, but I could not get past the fear of what MIGHT happen if I opened myself up to it. Seriously…..so much could go wrong. What if I looked stupid? What if I totally botched it? What if I thought I was totally rocking it and I fell flat on my face? Continue reading
